About Block Rated
Block Rated lists the independent businesses of each suburb: those whose name and website appear in no more than two places in Australia. A business is placed in a suburb only when its own published address names it.
Ratings and review counts come from Google Business Profiles and are refreshed on the first of each month. Being part of a chain says nothing about quality; this directory simply shows what is local.
Block Rated ranks the businesses of each Australian suburb by Google rating adjusted for review count, with chains and franchises left out, so the list is the suburb’s own.
Block Rated is run by the Block Rated team and has been publishing since October 2026. It lists 8,634 businesses in 1,035 lists, with figures as of October 2026.
Ratings, review counts and opening hours come from Google Business Profiles. The year a business started, and the jobs it does, come from its own website.
